We went “back-to-school” by beginning our third year of homeschooling this week!
I let the girls choose what to have for breakfast that morning, so we ended up with cinnamon rolls, bacon, and chocolate milk. No, that combination is not on our regular menu!
The first day went very smoothly.
Our curriculum is similar to what we’ve used the last two years. We use the dvd’s from A Beka Academy for our core academic subjects. I choose a different Bible program each year, and right now we’re working through Wise Up: Wisdom in Proverbs from Positive Action’s Bible Curriculum.
Another extra the girls do daily is a page from Dr. Funster’s Word Benders from The Critical Thinking Company. Two days a week they work on Rosetta Stone Spanish and then two days on Typing Instructor. Add to that piano practice every day and they stay fairly busy!
In September, we begin classes at our homeschool coop one day a week. My younger daughter is taking Shakespeare for Kids, Art, and American Girl Literature. My seventh grader has Creative Writing, Art, and Cooking.
Have your kids started back to school yet?
Oh, yes, we started back, but you already knew that.
What a cute picture of your daughters! How long do you think they'll continue to let you take pictures of them with their dolls?
The Word Benders looks like a fun way to work on vocabulary. I'll have to keep it in mind.
Well, I'm thrilled that my older daughter still likes her dolls so much! I'm guessing I've got another six months or so with her…. 🙂
We go back Aug 26th 🙂
Nice to see your girls! I love the dolls in the pictures, too — blessings for a wonderful year!
Wishing y'all a wonderful school year! Love seeing your girls in their first day pictures. And your curriculum sounds great.
