While the first day of fall is Saturday, we’ll be celebrating its arrival during our school day on Friday.
Since food is an important part of any celebration, we’ll start homemade applesauce in the slow cooker first thing in the morning. We’ll have several hours to enjoy the aroma before we eat a bowl of it with our lunch. Our afternoon snack will be these Easy Caramel Apples, which we’ll also make in the morning so they have time to chill.
The girls can put together these Cinnamon Apple Wreaths to hang up in their school room/playroom. For more homemade decor, I’m going to print out leaf templates for them to trace onto construction paper. We’ll cut those out, punch a hole in each one, and string them on twine to make garlands.
Lastly, we’ll assemble a fall collage. The girls are going to gather some leaves, acorns, pine needles, pine cones, etc., from the yard and put their creative minds to work!
While I don’t expect our coastal South Carolina weather to cooperate, I plan to let the girls look through the closet where their out-of-season clothing is stored and pull out a long-sleeved outfit for the day. We just may have to set all of our ceiling fans on high to be cool enough to get the fall effect!
Are you ready to welcome fall?
We are so ready for fall! I miss the longer days of summer, but the drop in humidity has been wonderful! I put a few of our fall decorations out over the weekend!
I <3 fall! I have almost as much fall decor as I do CHRISTmas. Ok, maybe not that much, but it is one of my favorite seasons. 🙂
