What a great question to ask anyone we care about – “What are your dreams?”
It can create unity in the husband and wife relationship when you know what hopes your spouse has for the future. And what a blessing to be able to have this discussion with our children!
I’ve had casual conversations about this with my girls, but their perspective has changed as they’ve gotten older. Now that my older daughter is in high school, it won’t be that long until she’ll be making some concrete plans for college and a career. Yet even now, I want to help both of my girls formulate dreams and goals for their future.
You can do this even with younger girls. You may want to phrase it as “Who do you want to be like when you’re older?” or “What do you want to do when you grow up?” This gives us as moms a whole new way to pray for and encourage our daughters.

My girls all say that they want to be "mommies" when they grow up. Isn't that sweet?!
Yes, that is very sweet!! When they were younger, my girls would say they wanted lots of children, though I think their favorite part of that scenario was coming up with all the names they wanted to use!
We do spend a lot of time talking about the future. Actually, more so with Will. His FAVE topic is college!
