The Rhythm of Summer

June 21, 2013 by Tracey 7 Comments

It’s taken a couple of weeks, but I think we’ve finally found our summer rhythm.

It takes time for us to transition from the more regimented hours of our homeschool day to the relaxed pace of summer.

It’s meant staying up later and sleeping in just a bit.

There’ve been trips to the pool and longer read-alouds after lunch and afternoon thunderstorms.

We’ve got library summer reading programs and chalking on the driveway, big bubbles from a Dollar Tree bottle and random art projects.

It’s our summer learning program and flip-flops piled on the floor and lunch with friends.

Yes, summer is here, and we’re loving it!

Have you gotten into the rhythm of summer?

No, we haven't gotten into our summer rhythm yet, but our last day of school was just last week. And we have a couple of fun weeks coming up, so after that, hopefully we'll get into our rhythm…just in time to start back to school!

I love this post! We'll be establishing our summer rhythm this week, now that we're back from NC vacay & not really going anywhere else before school starts back end of Aug. πŸ™‚

It's winter here, but we're on winter break and still getting settled into holiday/vacation mode… I'm busy with school prep while the children spend long days playing outside when the weather is good, and inside reading books and playing board games and playing with lego when it's wet outdoors. πŸ™‚
Your summer break sounds wonderful – and relaxing! πŸ™‚

Actually your winter break sounds, nice, too!! I could use a bit of "cozy" on these hot, humid days! πŸ™‚
