Fulfilling My Purpose

As I sat on the couch having my morning devotions, the sky was beginning to lighten outside.  Into the early morning stillness came the bright chirping of a little bird outside the window.  The sound began rather softly, but quickly grew louder.  It seemed as if that bird was putting all his strength into welcoming the day.

It struck me, as I listened, that he was doing exactly what God had made him to do.  He was fulfilling the Creator’s purpose and doing it to the best of his ability.

In that moment, I realized how blessed I am to be doing what God has called me to do.  Right now, that involves being a wife, supporting my husband and meeting his needs, and a homeschooling mom, seeking to train her children to know and love God while developing the talents and abilities He has given them.

In previous seasons, there have been other purposes, and the coming years will provide new challenges and responsibilities.  I pray that as each path unfolds, I will fulfill my purpose joyfully, fully dedicated to my calling, just like that little bird who filled my morning with his song.

I enjoy listening to the birds sing as I read my Bible in the morning, as well. We heard an excellent sermon on this subject yesterday, about not wasting our life. Great post, thanks!

Such a sweet, transparent post! Sometimes you've just got to wonder what they have to chirp so loudly about! But you're absolutely right. He's doing what he was created to do, and to the best of his ability.

Wishing you a wonderful day, friend!
