I remember weekends from my childhood when my mom chose activities for us to do as a family. Sometimes it involved visiting historical sites that she enjoyed, but my siblings and I lacked the perspective, perhaps, to share that enjoyment.
I think I may be following in her footsteps.
Last weekend we visited Drayton Hall located on the Ashley River in Charleston. Despite the high humidity in the non-air-conditioned house, I hope we all learned something and relished the time spent together.
When I made those trips with my family years ago, I learned to stick with my dad as he was likely to find a delicious treat to share. Just to make sure that our trip on Saturday ended well, we stopped for lunch at a local pizza shop.
What do you remember from your childhood that you are doing with your kids?
I lovelovelove sightseeing trips with our family! Local or far away – doesn't matter. We also like festivals!
We used to go sightseeing or for a day trip into the city every now and then – and my children love doing it even more than I did when I was a child!!
Tracey – please can I ask for prayers for my lil boy – I wrote about it on my last blog post. I'd appreciate your prayers.
Thank you, my friend.
