Twice a year we hold a fashion show at our house. The runway is a hall just outside our daughters’ bedroom. The fashions worn are the out-of-season clothing that’s been stored away for six months in the playroom closet.
This past Monday, the Fall Fashion Show premiered.
With long-sleeved shirts, sweaters, jackets and more heaped on their beds, my girls tried on piece after piece. Those items outgrown by my nine-year-old passed immediately to her sister to be modeled. My seven-year-old made her own pile of too-small items to be passed on to someone else.
There were squeals of delight when they uncovered a favorite article of clothing from last winter – and some shrieks of despair when a garment no longer fit! When the fanfare died down, I knew exactly what gaps in their wardrobe I needed to fill.
The flannel pajamas and snugly sweatshirts beckoned us with their enveloping warmth, but outdoor temperatures in the upper eighties quickly brought us back to reality.
So now we wait, anticipating that first cool breeze….
Have you pulled out any cold-weather clothing yet?

what a great idea! i've started pulling out fall clothing for my baby girl, but haven't gotten much farther than the washing machine. with temps in the mid 80s it's hard to think about cooler weather π
How awesome! I organize my clothes seasonally too, and I just love pulling out my winter clothes. π

That's a great idea. I may have to try it that way. It's a about the perspective, just like in daily chores. Thanks for visiting my blog.
