God’s hand is truly at work in every detail of our lives.
God placed just the right teacher into our lives that year. The seed of a love for learning that I had planted in my daughter’s life was watered and nurtured by someone who loved children and was wonderfully blessed with a gift of teaching.
At the end of that school year, we returned to South Carolina, and I assumed that the extent of that teacher’s influence had ended. However, we kept in touch and, in the three years since then, she and her family were called to the mission field in Honduras. They are currently in language school in Costa Rica.
It is amazing to see how God has worked in their lives. I have always wanted our children to realize that missionaries are real people that God calls to do a special job for Him. Because we know this family, we are able to pray for them in a personal way.
Certainly God knew that this teacher would impact us far beyond one year of our daughter’s education. She continues to teach my daughter in a whole new way as we follow her ministry and witness her faith in Christ and commitment to His calling in her life.
You can meet the Coats family by visiting Amy’s blog, Journey to Honduras, where she shares updates on their lives as missionaries.
Oh, how much I love reading about missionaries! I was enthused to be able to stay in contact with a homeschooling missionary recently to Argentina. 😀
God is so amazing! What a wonderful story! Thanks for sharing it. Stopping by from Mingle Monday!
That is really, really cool! It's a wonderful thing for your daughter to be able to watch God work in this way!
