Each day when I return home from dropping the girls off at school, I do a quick review of their room, making sure that beds are made at least passably well, pajamas have been folded and put away, and there are no large tripping hazards on the floor.
On Friday morning, here’s what I found on my older daughter’s bed.
Her Bible.
This discovery let me know that she had been using it that morning, probably working on her devotional reading for our Wednesday night church program. I doubt she meant to leave it there; she’s my “high C” child, very neat and orderly. Yet I’m glad she did.
It reminded me of the importance of teaching our children to read and treasure the word of God during their early years. It gave me hope that five years from now, when she’s entered those sometimes turbulent teenage years, that I will still be able to walk into her room and find a Bible on her bed.
What a privilege – and gift – is ours as mothers to help our children learn to love the Bible.

I LOVE THIS!!! Our oldest is only 4, but I love when he randomly talks about how God loves us all. We've tried reading to him from the bible, but he usually snatches it from us so he can have a turn "reading". I hope that will continue!
so lovely.
That is a gift. I pray everyday that God will reveal himself to my children.
awesome! I have a 2 year old and it makes me so happy when he wants to read stories from his "Bible book"
I couldn't agree more.
That is so cool!
I haven't been out on the blogs lately 🙁 but I hope to soon!

WOW! I came here to ask you this favor but I was just blessed and my spirit stilled by this post. How precious and what an incredible blessing. You have a beautiful daughter.
I don't know how I missed this post?! I'm glad I found it though. What a blessing this must have been to you the morning you saw your daughter's Bible left on her bed.
