A Song in Her Heart

February 16, 2010 by Tracey 13 Comments

She goes from one room to the next, her voice lilting softly, her words audible to others but performed for her own pleasure. The chore of putting toys away, returning books to their shelves are more enjoyable tasks as she sings her way through them.

She doesn’t know that I listen and learn. Is there a song in my heart? Or do the tunes which come so sweetly from her lips die on mine before they’re ever uttered? Today may I go about my duties with music spilling from my soul that others may perceive my joy.

Oh…. I loved this post. My oldest sings and sings. Usually songs she is creating in her mind. Oh, if only I,too, really sang that joyously.

Thanks for this post…I'm new to your blog…but soon to be a follower!

HAve a great day! (Sing while you're at it!)

I have an 8-year-old boy who sings – and whistles — his heart out, too! Love it!

Aww! That is sweet! πŸ˜€ How much the Lord loves singing unto Him instead of grumbling and complaining. πŸ˜€

Beautiful…my 3 year old has just began to sing and I never knew the emotion it would evoke. And your right it makes you want to sing right along with them.

Tracey, this is beautiful. One thing I learned from my daughter when she was a little thing was that you can't be down in the dumps when you're singing. Children teach us such lasting truths.

My five-year-old does the same thing. Always singing her heart out. Just a song in her heart. Pretty much always. And I've admired that in her for so long. But thank you for the challenge to be like her. And sing too. In my heart.

I think you are so right..joy just spills from them because they don't stop to think about it first.

Awwww, so cute! My children used to do that, and I did when I was little too. I miss hearing their sweet voices. I still occasionally catch a tune every now and then.

I sooooo appreciate your spirit of self-sacrifice regarding the Dove chocolates. But I can't let you do it, my friend.

I will willingly take on the calories just so you don't have to suffer. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
