Our daughters and I are making the last trip of the summer to spend a few days with my family out-of-state. We’ll be back for the girls to have a few more “sleep-in” mornings before our youngest starts school on August 19th. I know it’s cliched, but seriously, where has the summer gone??
Some weeks I have to dig for posts to share here, but this week I found some really good ones just in my regular blog browsing.

You know this post is right up my alley – College Drop Off: How to Handle this Gut-Wrenching Milestone.
Lisa shares A Mom’s Guide to a Great School Year.
Elizabeth writes Who You Are Is Not Outside You…and 17 Other Things I Want My High School Daughter to Know.
Jennifer has a great list of books in her post Every Child Will Treasure These Beloved Picture Books.
Arleen tells us Why You Should Stop Hitting the Snooze.
You might be surprised by what Jennifer says is The Homemaker’s Best Friend.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Oh, Tracey! Thank you so much for sharing my post! What a sweet blessing! But I came by first and foremost (when I saw that college drop-off piece) to ask how you’re doing? How ARE you doing? How are your girls doing in this season of change? Thinking of all of you!
Thanks for checking on us, Elizabeth! 🙂 I’m doing okay. I had to sit myself down and have a little talk with myself earlier this week. I felt like sadness was the main emotion I was experiencing and didn’t want that for myself or for my daughter to see.
To the best of our knowledge, and to the best of hers, going to this particular college at this particular time is God’s plan for her, and I can rest in and be excited about that! I want to keep that as my focus as we go through this college drop-off process.
As for my older daughter, she’s excited/nervous/unsure about this transition, but I know she’s going to handle it well. Her younger sister is really going to miss having her around!!
Pray for us as you think of it. We’ll be getting her settled in next weekend (24th/25th). Hope your girls are doing well as they start off their new school/college years!!
The list of children’s book was very interesting; we’ve read a good bit of them, but there were some new ones for us, too.
That is great advice to stop hitting the snooze button! I love my time in the morning before my children wake up!
I follow the advice about the timer, too, and it really is amazing how much you can get done in fifteen minutes — or even five!
I’d like to start using a timer for certain household chores. I’ve done it a few times in the past, and really was surprised at how quickly some of my tasks got done!
I’m with you – where did summer go??? :-O
