Saturday Salutes ~ Joy in Marriage and Hospitality

February 16, 2019 by Tracey 7 Comments

In an ongoing tradition, we spent last weekend in Myrtle Beach. We’ve been taking this “winter weekend getaway” as a family for years now. We tend to eat at the same restaurants and do the same activities every year…which may sound boring, but is actually lovely, because there are few decisions to make! We mainly spend time relaxing.

This is an older post, but I needed to hear what Jennifer shares in Hospitality: Overcoming Obstacles.

I’m not normally a big fan of banana bread, but this Dark Chocolate Banana Bread (with Coconut) might change my mind!

We have a full day today. The varsity basketball team that our girls are on plays in their state tournament – and our younger daughter also has her state cheerleading competition at the same location. Looking forward to watching our daughters compete!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

Your traditional trips sounds like a lot of fun! And I bet your daughters will be exhausted tonight, especially your younger one after playing basketball and cheering!

I’m currently reading Jen Schmidt’s book about hospitality, so Jennifer’s post was even more encouragement to get back into having people over. We used to do it quite a bit, but we got out of the habit when we got busy with soccer games and other extracurricular activities.

You’re so right – one daughter slept most of the way home (about an hour and a half trip), and both of them have been laying low since we got home a little while ago.

I haven’t read Jen Schmidt’s book yet, but I hope to soon. I already know I’ll be convicted about being more hospitable!

Did you know that LifeWay is offering the videos for the Bible study from that book for free in March? I’m reading it before doing the Bible study.

I think I did see that somewhere; maybe I should read the book before then, too!

Spoiler alert for this coming Saturday’s post…the cheerleaders won their competition (!!!) and the girls’ basketball team got third place. All in all, it was an exciting weekend!! I’ll certainly share pictures (and maybe the competition video) on Saturday.
