Saturday Salutes ~ Alleviating Stress and Thanksgiving Tradition Ideas

November 3, 2018 by Tracey 4 Comments

We took our girls to the fair on Monday night. We hadn’t been to the fair in years! The highlight for the girls was the rides, and for my husband and I, it was the funnel cake!

I’m excited to read Myquillyn Smith’s new book Cozy Minimalist Home.  I’ve heard her talking about the book on several podcasts lately, and it sounds like a practical, helpful home decorating book (especially for the decor-challenged like me!)  I rarely buy actual books anymore (I rely on my library or my Kindle), but I think I’d like to have this one to keep.  Here’s an excerpt about learning the art of having a cozy home with less stuff.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

While there are some great suggestions in Cambria’s post about relieving stress, I found myself fixated on her advice to stay off social media for an hour. Do people really get on facebook (or whatever) every hour or more? That’s crazy!

Drawing Close to God had some great advice in it, too!

I have all notifications on my phone turned off, but I know for myself, if I got a notification every time something new went up on social media, I’d probably be checking in way too often! Hence I remove the temptation, at least partially anyway!

I loved how Deanna put this, so it doesn’t stress us out: “traditions that are held lightly. Traditions that we can take a year off of or tweak if needed.” All of the love, meaning, & intention, without the pressure or guilt! 👍

That’s a perfect way to describe it!! The older our girls get, the more I want to be open to adapting/changing traditions to what works best for our family in this season of life.
