I believe there is power in praying Scripture over our families.
Because I have this passage from Numbers on my wall, I’m reminded to pray this blessing over my husband and children.
“The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.” ~Numbers 6:24-26
If I’m at home alone for lunch on a weekday, I try to pray this for my husband, as he’s at work, and my children as they’re at school. Here’s how I might pray these words.
Lord, bless my husband and my children in all that they do today. Keep them in your care wherever they go.
May your face shine on them so that they know your blessing and the pleasure that comes from walking with and knowing you. Be gracious to each one in my family. Thank you that you choose to extend grace to us, undeserving as we are.
Look on my loved ones with favor today and guide them in the way you would have for them to go. May the unexplained peace that only you can give flood their soul and keep them from worry or fear.
I know that God hears and answers prayer and am so thankful for the opportunity to pray His Word over my family.
Do you have a favorite Bible passage to pray?
I have always loved this verse, it has meant so much to me in so many ways over the years. And I love your "focused" prayers, personal and specific. Thanks so much for this discipleship lesson! Chris
I don't have a favorite Bible passage to pray, but I love how you do this. I think I will look for one! 🙂
I always sing those verses. I don't think it's possible for me to read them w/o singing! 😀
Thank you so much for beautiful words and lessons. My lord bless you and wonderful family.
