Christmas Ornament Show and Tell

December 19, 2012 by Tracey 9 Comments

Each Christmas, as we unpack our ornaments for the tree, I get sentimental.  So many of them recall a special person or place from the past.

This beautiful ornament was a gift from a lady in the church where I grew up.  The year after I received it, she died from cancer.

A puppy peeking from a stocking, this one is difficult to photograph because it reflects the light. It has my name and the year inscribed on it, and was given to me by my best friend in high school our senior year.

Since we’re in the high school era, this little doll was given to me by the teacher I had for German I and II.

A former boss gave me a set of three of these ornaments, JOY, HOPE, and PEACE….

….and a former coworker hand painted this Santa face on a light bulb!

It might be easy to guess that this came from our daughters’ piano teacher.

Each of our daughters bought Mickey Mouse ornaments when we made our Thanksgiving trip to Walt Disney World two years ago.

There are many more ornaments that tell a tale, especially those that our children have made.  Decorating the tree every year becomes a walk down memory lane for each one of us!

Thanks to Jo-Lynne who’s hosting a Christmas Ornament Show & Tell for inspiring me to record some of these stories.

How fun!! Most of our ornaments have a story to them as well – I think it makes decorating the tree so much fun, and it's great for the girls as they get older 🙂

Love the ornaments. It's special how they bring back memories. My kids always fight to hang "their" ornaments.

Love the different ornaments. Thank you for sharing your memories. I will not buy an ornament that has no meaning anymore. I love a tree that is decorated in a hodge podge of memories.
