Slowly but surely, changes are taking place.
If I take the time to notice, I’ll see that the days are getting shorter, the sunsets coming just a minute or two earlier each evening, the darkness driving us inside the house a bit sooner.
The temperatures are cooler by just a few degrees, the humidity less than it was during the many summer days just passed.
In the same way, there are gradual changes happening in our family. A few pieces of clothing are getting just a bit short on our older daughter, some of them ready to be packed up and passed down to her younger sister. She’s lost another baby tooth, leaving only three future visits from the tooth fairy.
The younger one is tackling harder tasks, her school work a bit more involved than last year. Her creativity is blossoming and her initiative is increasing.
Like the morphing of one season into another, they’re slowly changing, ever growing in body and in spirit. And just as we strain to draw every last pleasure from summer while welcoming fall in all its glory, so I’ll revel in every last moment of pretend play and silly games while finding joy in the new normal.
The climate changes here are the exact opposite and I love it! 🙂 I love the increasing warmth and the beautiful spring days…
As for your girls… They change so gradually, don't they… I find it both sad and exciting as my two grow older. I've especially been noticing changes in my daughter this year (she turned 8)…
You have two beautiful young ladies there, Tracey! 🙂
Clara,
Thank you so much. Often it's when people who haven't seen our girls in awhile remark on their growth that I begin to notice how they're changing. You don't always catch it in the day-to-day of life! And I agree with your emotions – joy and sadness at the same time!
Hope your family is doing well as you enjoy your spring!!
