Shhhh!! We’re doing a treasure hunt today, but my girls don’t know it yet!
When I was out shopping by myself a few weeks ago, I found these t-shirts on clearance at the Gap Outlet. Since we’re traveling to New York City soon, I thought these would be perfect for the girls to wear on our trip.
Rather than just giving them the shirts, I decided to have a treasure hunt. I try to do this periodically, but it’s been awhile since our last one.
First, I make up four or five clues that lead them around the house in search of the “treasure.” I write these on little slips of paper and place them in the appropriate locations. I admit I’m not the best at this, but here’s one of my clues for today’s hunt.
Sometimes you need to add some heat
That will lead them to the microwave where I’ll leave the next clue.
Typically the “treasure” is just a small toy, a piece of candy, or a book I’ve picked up inexpensively (one for each of them, of course!)
If you’d like to do this with younger children who aren’t reading yet, you could use picture clues to lead them to the destination.
I don’t do treasure hunts often as I want to keep them special, so I know our daughters will be very excited to do this today!
Have you ever done this with your children?
What a super cute idea! Thanks for sharing. I love the shirts!

That is such a fun idea! And those shirts are so cute.
This sounds like so much fun! I'll have to keep it in mind for my kids! Thanks for sharing.
