Typical Saturday mornings in our house involve chores for everyone. While my daughters make beds, dust furniture, and wipe down the bathroom, our local Christian radio station’s “children’s programming” plays in the background. Activity tends to slow down around 10:00 A.M.; that’s when Adventures in Odyssey begins. I’ll often find that my girls have migrated to their beds, dust rags in hand, so that they can better listen to the program.
Since I’m already familiar with Adventures in Odyssey, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to review one of their latest releases, Cause & Effect: 12 Stories on the Power of God & More. This four-cd set includes lessons on the topics of fear, friendship, trust, responsibility, honesty and more. As usual, the stories communicate their moral in a way that is entertaining, yet clear and direct. In “The Mystery of the Clock Tower”, the Biblical principle “Be sure your sin will find you out” is demonstrated while “Grandma’s Christmas Visit” reinforces for listeners the true meaning of Christmas. As with other Adventures in Odyssey sets that we own, I find them most appropriate for older elementary-school-aged children.
