As week three of our summer learning program ends, I’m glad that I had a plan in place to keep us scheduled and motivated. After studying weather and composers, this week’s topic was nutrition.
Besides reading books about the subject, I had our daughters help me make homemade French bread one afternoon. Kneading the dough was their favorite part!
They spent part of another afternoon creating posters with pictures of healthy and unhealthy foods.
Speaking of unhealthy….the girls also helped me bake up a batch of Jen’s Homemade Cinnamon Rolls. I halved the recipe, and they were oh, so delicious!!! Please don’t ask how many I’ve eaten!!
Having them make their own lunches each day was another part of the plan. It’s worked well so far; our seven-year-old sometimes adds a touch of creativity to her plate.
It’s hard to believe that four weeks of our summer break are already over! What fun things have you done so far?
Looks like there is a lot of *yummy* learning going on at your place!! We have been having park dates and picnics and it is amazing to me how fast the summer is traveling by! Thanks for the cinnamon roll recipe link!
YUM! I can't believe it is almost JULY!! WOW!
Ah you just had to mention french bread and cinnamon rolls in front of the preggo…. Betcha can't guess what I'm craving right now! 😉
