I enjoy traditions. They bring a sense of celebration to the everyday, forge unique bonds between family members, and create special memories.
While my husband and I fill out brackets for the NCAA basketball tournament every year, this is the first time we decided to include our daughters. On Monday night, we sat down and explained how it worked. It was too cute watching them fill out their sheets, carefully studying the match ups, seeing how the teams are seeded and what their regular season records were.
Once the games are done and the points are totaled, we will declare a winner. He – or she – gets to choose which restaurant we’ll visit for our weekly dinner out. And our family will have established a new tradition that we’ll look forward to every year.
Do you enjoy creating new traditions with your family? What’s one of your favorites?
Tracey, I love this!!! Very cute, and I am sure your girls will remember this forever and will keep the tradition into adulthood. Anxious to hear who will win 😉
Blessings!
We love creating new traditions too. We're not really basketball fans, but we have a quite a few sports traditions for football and baseball season.
By the way, I'm featuring a link to your post on developing writers for this week's Friday Favorites. Come by and get a featured button if you'd like.
Forever Neighbor,
Would you believe……as of last night, with sixteen games completed, our seven-year-old is winning with fourteen of the sixteen correct!! I don't believe in "luck," but if there was such a thing, she's been blessed with it! She's always been the one to get a hole-in-one at miniature golf to win a free game and other such "chance" things.
