By forcing myself to make some hard decisions last week, I am happy to say that I am almost finished with my Christmas shopping!
This year I found it a bit difficult to select gifts for our daughters. As a friend and I were discussing recently, when your children don’t watch a lot of television (henceforth, no commercials) they don’t seem to ask for a lot. To complicate matters is the fact that both of our girls have birthdays the first week in December.
Now I will admit that when our seven-year-old goes shopping with me, she can find something she wants in nearly every store, but those items are usually just a passing fancy. She is a stuffed animal lover, so entering and exiting Kohls always requires a stop to peruse the often-changing display of creatures. She had seen the little dog Honey in an American Girl catalog recently; of course, by the time I looked into ordering it (normal price $22), they were sold out. While there are eBay sellers willing to provide me with Honey for a slightly inflated price, I instead crossed that item off of my list
Of course I included among their presents several books from some of their favorite series, most of them free from PaperBackSwap by using credits I had earned from posting some of our own unused books. The doll beds my husband is building are nearly done, so I purchased doll pajamas from Michaels (a great price with my 40% off coupon) and ordered doll quilts and pillows from Etsy along with this darling Victorian party dress and bag for my seven-year-old’s doll. She will also be receiving these (which were on sale when I purchased them), as she has claimed that her sister never shares hers! I got a good deal on several items through Amazon, all of which qualified for free shipping – one of my favorite incentives for shopping online!
My husband and I are giving each other a new digital camera that we ordered over the weekend, so our old one, which still works great, will be going to our nine-year-old for Christmas. I picked up a few camera-related items for her, then added some arts and crafts supplies for both girls and was done!
There are still a few small items to be bought, but I’m thrilled to be almost done……..well, with the shopping, anyway! Now I have to tackle the wrapping!!!
Visit Tackle It Tuesday to read what others accomplished this week.
We are a family of readers and I am looking forward to investigating the PaperBack Swap site. Sounds like a great idea! We are getting a new digital camera as well and I can't wait!!
