It’s a Christmas Secret!!

December 8, 2009 by Tracey 9 Comments

How cute is this??!!

My husband is building two of these doll beds, one for each of our daughters, for Christmas. They are designed for 18-inch dolls, of which our girls have several. Our nine-year old is about three quarters of the way towards saving up the money she needs to buy an American Girl doll, which she has been wanting for quite a long time.

Since I am NOT a seamstress, I ordered two doll quilts and pillows from Etsy to put on the beds. I couldn’t believe the price for a doll mattress (!) so am wondering if I could find a (VERY) easy way to make one of those myself.

I’ll be sure to share a picture sometime in the next few weeks when the beds are complete.

See what others (or, as in my case, others’ husbands!) are tackling this week at Tackle It Tuesday hosted by 5 Minutes for Moms.

You could purchase a piece of foam then use a pillow case for the cover and just sew up the ends. That is assuming the size would fit well.

I can't wait to see the finished product! I bet your girls are going to be so excited to have such a nice bed to put their "babies" in. Madison is just starting to get into playing with baby dolls. She was giving on a "bath" and said "look mama – watch me. This is how I dry my baby off." Then she tossed her baby up in the air! I laughed SO hard! I asked her what if I dried her off like that after her bath and she just "NOOOOOOO!"

    Misty –

I had thought I might could try something like that…….it sounds pretty simple, but I know how lacking my skills are in that area! : )

    Thanks for the idea!

How cool! I know Joann's fabric sells foam in all different thicknesses, and they cut it for you. You could get that, and then simply wrap in it fabric and use fabric glue to glue it closed. Easy enough!

If you have a chance, stop by my Tackle-It Tuesday and say hi!
