If you’re looking for a sweet and simple bedtime picture book for your young child, Sleepy Sun by Mari Priscilla Hanson would be a nice find.
The story is written in an easy-to-read rhyming pattern with just a few lines per page. It describes the journey that the sun takes during the day and some of the sights viewed by the sun as it travels across the sky.
The illustrations by Kathleen M. Hanson use vivid colors and add a high level of interest. I appreciate that the pictures are drawn from various cultures and settings. This book would easily stimulate interaction with your child as you not only read the words on the pages, but also discuss with him the people and scenes portrayed. The end of the book also lends itself to reviewing with your child all the things that he did throughout the day.
Appropriate as a read-aloud for toddlers and preschoolers, it would be a great story to snuggle-up with at bedtime. This paperback book can be purchased for $14.99 at Amazon.com.
