I rediscovered a forgotten tip on Monday.
The girls were being a bit short with each other. Labor Day stretched ahead of us and it appeared it could be a very long day. One of the projects on my list to accomplish was cleaning out the closet in the girls’ playroom. This is something we tackle together, so, after their game of checkers ended unpleasantly, I thought the time was right for this assignment.
We pulled everything off the closet shelves and started making piles for each girl to sort through. In the midst of doing this, they found some items to throw away as well as things they had forgotten they had. Once we finished our cleaning up, they happily spent the rest of the time until lunch playing with these re-discovered treasures.
While I remember having this happen before, I will mentally file it away as a great tip. When tensions are running a bit high, get the kids together, find a closet or a drawer or two to clean out and let them have a heyday with whatever they find. I’m thinking this would work well with the tub of outside toys we have stored in the garage. I guess when I post about that, you’ll know we were having one of those days!
