What I Learned This Week

August 25, 2009 by Tracey 10 Comments

While we spent most of the last week getting back into the routine of school and, as of last night, homework, I still found time to learn the following lessons.

  1. Just because school is back in session doesn’t mean that fall weather is here.
  2. Surely one of the greatest ways that I can exemplify patience and self-control before my children is by keeping my mouth shut while driving them to school in rush-hour traffic each morning.
  3. Waiting until your hair is way past a manageable length to schedule a haircut, only to have your stylist call the morning of the appointment to say she’s home sick, makes for a week of scary-looking hairdos before the rescheduled visit.
  4. An e-mail encouragement from a friend can make your entire day.
  5. Few things say “I love you” like a husband who will cook his own meal and leave the kitchen looking like he was never there.

Read about what others learned this week by visiting Musings of a Housewife.

I'm totally with you on the back to schoo/fall weather-thing! I'd like to have your husband call my husband and give him a few pointers!

Great lessons! I will take your #2 lesson to heart when the back to school rush starts in 2 weeks. I have to be just as ready as my kids, right?

I don't practice the traffic one nearly often enough. But I do have a pretty good husband who cooks and cleans.

What a great hubs and friend! And I'm all for rockin a ponytail in the carpool line! Go for it! Then you can drive slower in the crazy traffic because you didn't have to spend as much time fixing hair! Woohoo! 2 birds!

Great lessons! I always wait too long for a haircut.

My hubby cooks all the time but not so good at the cleanup. Oh well, I'll take the cooking part any time!

Keeping mouth shut during traffic – perfect way to show self control. Hard to do sometimes!
