I don’t think I used to be.
While I’ve always enjoyed my own company and never felt the need to be entertained by someone else every waking moment, I don’t think I gained an appreciation for silence until I had children.
Now don’t get me wrong; I enjoy talking with my children, hearing their stories and jokes, answering their questions.
But there’s something to be said for those moments when I’m riding down the road with no radio or cd playing, no darling voice asking how to spell a word, no one demanding that their sister leave them alone.
Will the day come when I wish for those chatty times, miss the constant commentary, the unceasing chatter? I think so; no, I know so.
But for now, in this season, I treasure the occasional moments of silence.
There are many things we can stop and be thankful for; read about them at Gratituesday hosted by Heavenly Homemakers.
