Every day we make decisions, often small ones that can be changed later or adjusted easily.

However, at other times we face larger decisions.  We wonder which way to go, what will be best for us and for our family.  As Christians, how we long to have the wisdom of God during these times!

My husband and I are in the process of making a couple of those larger decisions.  Last week, as I was reading the book Uncommon Marriage by Tony and Lauren Dungy, the following words really spoke to me.

“Early on, we learned to ask God for two things when praying about decisions:  first, that He would give us His infinite wisdom and direction, and second, that He would put us on the same page.  Over the years, we’ve come to realize that when we are frustrated with each other, it’s because we haven’t spent enough time praying or communicating about spiritual matters to understand each other’s heart on something.” [emphasis mine]

While I have been praying for God’s wisdom and direction for our decisions, I have failed to specifically pray for God to unite our hearts and give us the same understanding and discernment.  Both my husband and I desire to do God’s will and I know that God can write His plan in our lives and give us surety of His guidance as we take the steps He lays out for us.

What a blessing it is to trust a God who cares about us and can give us a united heart to follow Him!

Wise words that I needed to hear today. I will confess to praying recently that God would change my husband – when I should be praying that God would unite our hearts. Thank you.

I love when my hubby and I are on the same page. We seldom disagree which is awesome. I find where I am weak, he is strong in that area. I love that the Lord made us like that…walking in harmony.

I'll be praying for wisdom as you make these decisions. And a united heart is a wonderful thing, and it takes a wise person to pray for one.

I just love Tony Dungy! I cannot believe I have not heard of this book. Definitely need to check it out. I love how they talk about a united heart. I had a "lightbulb" moment when I read that. Changes my perspective in many ways. Praying for you! Blessings my friend ๐Ÿ™‚

Love Tony Dungy, too! And I love that terminology: "unite our hearts" in the decision. Praying for y'all! ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, I needed this!! We have been praying about some major changes and the ones we are most stressed over are the ones we aren't united in. Thank you for the reminder!!
