For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
~ I Thessalonians 4:7
If I’m called to it, what is it?
It’s the state of being holy which, as one definition states, is being devoted entirely to the work of God.
We often think of the work of God as what a pastor or missionary does. Certainly there are those who are called to dedicate themselves to the spiritual welfare of others as their life’s vocation. Yet as Christians, we are all called to holiness.
What is the work of God for me today? Well, it’s instructing our children, doing household chores, praying for my husband, meditating on the Bible passage I read this morning, showing kindness to my neighbor, and so much more.
One aspect of holiness is seeing all that I do in light of Him – from the books I read to the websites I visit, to the words that I speak to the attitude of my heart.
May I daily ask myself the following: “Am I fulfilling my calling to live holy?”
