“Rebekah was able to meet God’s divine appointment for her life because she was faithfully carrying out her current obligations.” ~Gregg Harris
I came across this quote while reading Joshua Harris’ book I Kissed Dating Goodbye. He describes the story in Genesis 24 when Abraham’s servant comes looking for a bride for Isaac. The servant finds Rebekah – not on a big stage or performing amazing tasks – but rather as she’s going about her usual duties, filling her water pitcher at the well.
Sometimes we look for God’s direction by stepping outside of the ordinary, seeking a grand revelation. Yet it is often as we go about our normal tasks that we find God’s calling for us – His will revealed. As we are faithful in what He’s given us to do now, we can trust that God will bring about the opportunities that are meant for us.
