In speaking to the children of Israel regarding the chastisement that will come if they fail to keep His commandments, God rebukes them in Deuteronomy 28:47 “because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart….”
This verse convicted me. How often do I serve the Lord with joyfulness? Are the tasks I perform in His name seen only as a duty or something I dread? Whether it be meeting the needs of my family, working in the church nursery or helping an ailing neighbor, is there a gladness in my heart as I minister to others?
I’m afraid I often serve in my own strength, with my own agenda or only because it’s expected of me. May I seek, with the Holy Spirit’s help, to change. After all that God has done for me, so may my service for Him be performed with a joyful spirit and a glad heart.
May my home sing because I’m serving with joy. Read how others are making their home sing at Mom’s the Word.
