A neat and organized home is something I strive for year-round. However, when I finally got motivated to begin spring cleaning last week, I realized how many items accumulate in the house in spite of my best intentions!
Our master bedroom, bathroom and closets were the starting point. I cleaned, reorganized and eliminated as many things as possible.
This chest, given to me by my dad years ago, is in our bedroom and holds various files and mementos. Here are before and after photos, along with the pile of trash I was able to collect. (Hope no one in the family spots anything they had wanted to keep!)
Saturday I began the assault on my bedroom closet. Admittedly (and thankfully!) it doesn’t normally look this bad. Items that I encountered on Friday and didn’t know what to do with I put in the closet, basically postponing a decision until the next day.
After seeing me sorting and cleaning on Friday afternoon, my seven-year-old began doing her own spring cleaning! She went through her basket of papers and collectibles, came up with an armful of trash, then used the glass cleaner to wipe down some windows. Once finished, she asked if I enjoyed spring cleaning. I confessed to not enjoying the process nearly as much as I do the end result!
Have you done any spring cleaning around your house? Let me know how you stay motivated as I have several more rooms to tackle this week!
