Some days I struggle with getting things done around the house. I was motivated by Sarah’s post on Monday regarding time management and it inspired me to try something new this week.
While I am by nature a list-maker, most days I just jot down on my personal calendar the major errands and appointments for the day. My revised strategy for this week has been to sit down at night and make a list of what I want to accomplish the next morning. This involves household chores, anything from doing a load of laundry to starting supper in the crock pot to vacuuming the dining room. On this list I am also including what I would like to do in my computer time, be it writing a post for the blog or researching Christmas gifts for my daughters.
I make sure that I put several household tasks at the top of the list, which I force myself to finish before I ever sit down at the computer. I hate looking around at lunch time and realizing that those few minutes at the computer turned into an hour or more and nothing else has been accomplished. My family really won’t be impressed if I wrote a terrific blog post, but they have no clean clothes to wear! So far, this has worked well and I have such a feeling of satisfaction when I can look at the list in the afternoon and see how many items I have crossed off!
