I don’t watch much television, especially of the “reality tv” genre, but when The Next Food Network Star is on, I’m there.
This tip was totally new to me and it came from Melissa D’Arabian, who was the winner on the show this year. In one of the episodes, she told viewers that once you have used the green portion of your green onions, you should take the white roots and place them in a glass of water so that they will regrow the green portion.
This sounded too good to be true, especially since I enjoy using green onions in my cooking, but hate to buy a new bundle of them every week or two. Can I just tell you that this tip works?! If you walked into my kitchen today, you would see a glass jar on my counter top with green onions growing out of it.
It may not be the most attractive looking thing you’ve seen when it comes to kitchen decor, but I love that I’m growing my own green onions and saving money in the process!Read more tips at Kitchen Tip Tuesday and Works for Me Wednesday.
