I start by praying for their immediate future. For example, with school starting back next week, I pray for each of the girls to have a good friend in their class who will encourage them to do right. I pray for upcoming tests, recitals or other performances, that our child would have God’s peace and recall of the things they have learned.
I also pray for things that are more long term, such as them finding the calling God has for their life and, if it’s His will for them to marry, that they would be led to the right person.
My prayer includes the parents of the boys that my girls would marry, that they would have wisdom and guidance as they raise their young men, teaching them to guard their eyes, minds and thoughts that they might enter the relationship with my daughter as pure as they can possibly be. Along those same lines, I also ask that God would keep our daughters pure that they might be a spotless bride for their mate.
Tomorrow I’ll close this series by highlighting a few comments from these posts and discussing what my girls and I pray for before they head out the door each morning. Feel free to leave a comment on this post and share other areas in which you pray for your children.
