American Girl Books (most of these are being read for the second or third time):
Kit’s Short Story Collection
Kirsten Learns a Lesson
Happy Birthday Felicity
A to Z Mysteries by Ron Roy (also re-reads):
The Absent Author
Mayflower Treasure Hunt
Cul-de-sac Kids books by Beverly Lewis (one of our very favorite series):
The Mystery Mutt
Portraits of Little Women Series by Susan Beth Pfeffer:
Meg Makes a Friend
Amy Makes a Friend
I have read Little Women aloud to my girls and they thoroughly enjoyed it. I initially thought that this series was just short stories pulled from the original book. However, I see that they are “new” stories about the four girl characters from Little Women. In skimming through this second title, I found some conversation between the girls that covered a topic I’m not really ready for my girls to be exposed to at this point, at least not through a book. Don’t think we’ll be reading any more of this series for awhile.
Magic Tree House: Ghost Town at Sundown by Mary Pope Osborne
The Adventures of Amelia Bedelia by Peggy Parish
Totally Silly Jokes by Alison Grambs
I got an earful of this one on the way home from the library. I have found I sometimes have to be careful with the content of joke books, but this one seems to be okay.
As for myself, I have started reading She Still Calls Me Daddy by Robert Wolgemuth. It’s written from the perspective of a dad who has given two daughters away in marriage. Thought I’d read it way ahead of time and see what may be in our future! I’m planning to post a book review on this book in the next week or two.
